Firmware Update

The viewfinder continually introduces new features, and most of these can be implemented through firmware upgrades. Updating the firmware is straightforward and quick, allowing you to upgrade to newer versions or revert to previous firmware versions if needed.

The firmware version is shown at the bottom of Menu, for example, Firmware: 1.00(#0300). To upgrade the firmware as the following steps:

  1. Preparation: Download the latest firmware from the official website. The firmware file name format is: kvf_x.xx_xxxx.pack, for example: kvf_1.00_0300.pack. Copy the firmware file to the root folder of a FAT/FAT32/exFAT USB disk. Insert the USB disk with a USB-C connector into the USB-C socket of the powered-on viewfinder.
  2. Update: Navigate to [Menu–>Settings–>Frimware Update], confirm the update, and wait for 3-5 minutes. When the [Update Progress] reaches 100%, the system will automatically restart.
  3. Finish: After the system automatically restarts, you can remove the USB disk, and the new firmware will be ready for use.

CAUTION Do NOT take any other operation and never lose power firmware update, else it may lead to failure of the update, and the viewfinder has to be sent to Kinefinity for repair.

CAUTION You should only keep 1 viewfinder firmware file on the USB disk at a time. Having multiple firmware files could potentially cause failure of the upgrade.
